Our commitment
From the very start, AMTE has integrated ethical problems into its strategy. The company has adopted an approach which aims at preventing, to its best possible capacity, potential pollution from its manufacturing activities on the environment.
AMTE’s adherence to the Global Compact
in promoting fundamental values.
In 2007, AMTE formally became a member of the United Nations Organization’s World Pact, a decision which symbolises the company’s commitment to sustainable development.
The World Pact, or Global Compact, is an initiative which was launched in 1999 at the Davos forum by Kofi Anan, former Secretary-General of the UNO. For participating parties, it means adopting good methods in domains such as the protecting of Human rights, of the environment and the respecting of working conditions.
The 10 major principles of the Global Compact:
1. Promote and respect the protection of Human rights
2. Take heed against becoming an accomplice in acts that violate Human rights
3. Respect the freedom of association and the right to have group negotiations
4. Eliminate all types of forced or compulsory labour
5. Completely abolish any form of child labour
6. Fight against discrimination in terms of work or profession
7. Be precautious when faced with issues pertaining to the environment
8. Promote a much larger awareness with regards to our responsibility for the environment
9. Encourage the development and use of technology which respects the environment
10. Take action against corruption in all forms
AMTE's Commitment towards Sustainable Development
At AMTE, we have put into place an Environmental Management System; which particularly focuses on all aspects of the company, as a means to sustainably reduce the impact of our activity on the environment.
Amongst other actions, this approach has started taking shape through: the use of holding tanks for storing dangerous/ high risk products on storage sites, the treating of spewed air from factories, the controlled use of natural and man-made resources (water, electricity, raw materials).
All of AMTE’s new projects include an environmental axe which enables us to adopt the best possible techniques.
